This role focuses on delivering high-quality process design, providing process engineering support for ongoing site projects, coordinating across disciplines, and driving project execution from concept through detailed design. The selected candidate must be located in Richland or willing to relocate to the area.What You'll Be Doing:Provide site-based process engineering support for existing projects and ongoing activities at the Richland facilityWork closely with site engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams to resolve process-related issues and support facility needsSupport facility modifications, equipment upgrades, capacity improvements, process optimization, and brownfield projectsLead development of process deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment data sheets, process calculations, and design basis documentsPerform process and hydraulic modeling to support design decisions, equipment sizing, and system performanceSupport feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed design, technical evaluations, and development of cost-estimate inputsEvaluate existing process systems and recommend modifications or improvements to support safety, reliability, capacity, and operational objectivesCoordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and other engineering disciplines to deliver an integrated designInterface with equipment vendors during equipment selection, preparation of technical specifications, bid evaluations, and submittal reviewsSupport process safety reviews, hazard evaluations, design reviews, and resolution of technical commentsSupport commissioning, startup, testing, and operational-readiness activities, as requiredParticipate in client and site meetings, resolve technical issues, and align stakeholders on design directionProvide technical guidance to project team members and support internal quality reviewsWhat Required Skills You'll Bring:Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field10+ years of process engineering experiencePrevious engineering experience at a nuclear facility, nuclear fuel-cycle facility, DOE facility, or NRC-regulated facilityExperience supporting projects within an operating nuclear or highly regulated industrial facilityStrong experience developing and reviewing core process design deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment specifications, and process calculationsExperience providing process engineering support for facility modifications, equipment upgrades, and existing-site projectsAbility to coordinate and work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines in an EPC project environmentStrong problem-solving, technical analysis, and written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work directly with site personnel, project teams, clients, and equipment vendorsWhat Desired Skills You'll Bring:8+ years of process engineering experience, with significant experience supporting nuclear facilities or nuclear-related projectsExperience with nuclear fuel fabrication, uranium processing, enrichment, conversion, deconversion, advanced reactor fuels, or radioactive material processingExperience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated facilitiesExperience providing day-to-day process engineering support to an operating facilityExtensive experience with EPC process engineering from feasibility and conceptual design through detailed design and construction support is preferred.Experience supporting nuclear facility modifications, modernization projects, capacity expansions, or brownfield upgradesExperience working with operations and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot process issues and implement facility improvementsFamiliarity with nuclear safety requirements, process hazard analyses, criticality safety interfaces, safety basis documentation, and nuclear quality requirements such as NQA-1Familiarity with process modeling and hydraulic analysis tools, such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Pipe-FloExperience supporting feasibility studies, design engineering, commissioning, startup, and operational-readiness activitiesProfessional Engineer license or demonstrated progress toward licensureSecurity Clearance Requirement:NoneThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 80 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
